Posted by VICKY ROBINSON
A signet ring is a must have for any jewellery lover.
Recently lots of 70’s and 80’s jewellery styles have been making a comeback, these include coin necklaces, threader earrings and now signet rings. Signet rings were once worn on men's pinkie fingers, but now the trend is for both men and women to wear the reinvented signet rings.
The signet ring goes back as far back as 3500 BC, when kings and religious leaders wore signet rings and used them to mark and seal documents. The document seal could not be opened without damaging it and showing it has been read or tampered with. Signet rings were also commonly worn in the 17th and 18th centuries. In those times, signet rings bore the family crest and was a mark of distinction.
Now, in 2020 signet rings have made a huge comeback. Signet rings are continuing to sell well, the trend showing no signs of slowing down. As we said, signet rings are now worn by both women and men and not only on the pinkie finger, they can be worn on any finger or as a stacking ring in combination with any other favourite rings.
